BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The YWCA of Central Alabama displayed the benefits of pre-kindergarten programs to corporate leaders and lawmakers on Friday.
The organization invited corporate leaders and lawmakers into their daycare facility to see first-hand what children are learning.
The event showcased how four-year-olds in Alabama’s Voluntary Pre-K Program learn academic concepts through developmentally appropriate play.
The YWCA hopes lawmakers will begin to expand the program by supporting the first of ten 12-point, $5 million budget increases designated for pre-kindergarten.
