AUBURN – In their seventh practice of the spring, Coach Gus Malzahn’s Auburn Tigers held a 90-minute officiated scrimmage Saturday morning at Jordan-Hare Stadium, wrapping up the second week of football spring drills.
“We had a good one today,” said Malzahn after practice. “We had about a 112-play scrimmage. We ran the football a little more than we threw it. We tried to get our guys in different situations, to see how they react to field position, down and distance. Both quarterbacks got a chance to throw the ball more than 20 times; we wanted to see how they would react.
“There was a lot of good that happened and a lot of stuff we have to get a whole lot better on. We mixed and matched personnel on purpose; we’d like to reevaluate things after this scrimmage for the second part of the spring as far as depth charts and moving folks around. It was some good and some things we need to improve upon.”
Auburn will continue practices next week, leading up to A-Day on Saturday, April 20, scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff at Jordan-Hare Stadium. View complete information for all the events surrounding A-Day and purchase tickets at AuburnTigers.com/aday.
