BIRMINGHAM, AL (WIAT)—The Samford football team practiced for about two hours in full pads Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The workout was the 10th of 15 practices the team will go through this spring.

Wednesday’s practice was the second of the week for the Bulldogs as they prepare for the team’s second   scrimmage this Saturday.  Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said he was happy with what he saw from his team on Wednesday.

“I thought we had a very good practice,” Sullivan said. “We wanted to end practice with a two-minute drill which was something that we hadn’t done yet this spring.  I thought that went really well for both sides.”

On the offensive line this season, the Bulldogs have to replace starters Ryan Dudchock and Jacob Kirschenbaum.  Sullivan said he was pleased with what he has seen so far this spring from the offensive line.

“We miss Dudchock and Kirschenbaum , they played a lot football for us,” Sullivan said. “I think our offensive line is starting to mesh.  Armando (Bonheur) is starting to feel comfortable at center and that’s where it starts.”

The Bulldogs return five offensive linemen from last year’s team with lots of playing experience. Sullivan said the returnees have performed well so far this spring.

“ Getting Gunnar Bromelow back has been good,” Sullivan said.  “Kasey Morrison is starting to give us some leader ship we need. Kyle Champion has been good so far.  Overall, I am pleased with our offensive line.”

Samford will return to practice on Friday April, 12. The practice is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
