BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A Birmingham theater hosted a premiere for the film “42” on Thursday evening.
The Carmike Summit 16 premiered on Thursday night.
Linc Hand, one of the film’s actors, hails from Birmingham.
Hand plays Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Fritz Ostermueller.
“That’s what this film is saying: look what this guy went through to become a giant in what he did,” Edie Hand, Linc’s mother, said. “It’s no different today. If you really want something, you stand up for it, and if you have somebody to believe in you, you can make a difference.”
Also starring in the film is Lawrence County native, Lucas Black.
Black plays Pee Wee Reese, a hall of fame shortstop who played for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers.
