Traces of lead found in rice from China and Taiwan

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – According to the American Chemical Society, rice imported from Taiwan and China often contains high levels of lead.

The high levels of lead pose a health hazard for those who consume it.

Babies exposed to lead at an early age often have learning difficulties and tend to grow at a slower rate.

Adults can suffer from headaches, high blood pressure and mood disorders when exposed to lead.
