Top-Ranked Thompson Eyes Playoffs

ALABASTER, AL (WIAT) – The Thompson Warriors baseball team didn’t let a disappointing 2012 season keep them down heading into 2013. The Warriors came back in a big way. They’re currently 37-8, ranked #1 in the state’s largest classification 6A. Coach Pat Hamrick says it’s his pitching staff that has made this team so dominating. ”We’ve had 21 games where we’ve given up one run or less we’ve had 15 shutouts of our 37 wins, so our pitching staff has kind of carried us. Recently we’ve been swinging the bats a lot better and finding ways to win.”

With the high school baseball playoffs beginning on Friday, the Warriors will host Spain Park in a best-of-three series. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm. The second game will be played 30 minutes after the completion of game one.
