BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala, (WIAT) -Runners continue to take their mark across the country, despite the tragedy in Boston. Many of the races have taken on a new meaning as participants now run to show their support for the victims of the bombings.
The Town of Blountsville is gearing up for the annual Tiger 8 Run. Volunteer, Eric Richardson says the tragedy could have happened anywhere, but it’s time to stand strong in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing.
“It terrifies me, it scares my family but we can’t let that hold us back. It’s really time to take back our freedom, take back our peace of mind.”
The Tiger 8 Run for Boston is set for April 23rd. The run will take place at JB Pennington High School at 3:30 p.m.
There will be a special speaker before the race who was in Boston and nearing the finish line when the bombs went off.
