BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The number of Americans who have heart failure each year is expected to climb dramatically from 5 million to 8 million by 2030.
The American Heart Association (AHA) says heart failure is the leading cause of hospitalization for people over 65.
The AHA recommends specialized training for healthcare professionals to meet the future demands of heart failure patients.
It also suggests increasing hospice care to treat patients who have an advanced form of the disease.
