WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIAT) – Democrats and Republicans are blaming each other for automatic budget cuts that forced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to cut back on air traffic controllers.
Democrats say the country could have avoided the problem if GOP lawmakers had acted to stop automatic budget cuts.
Meanwhile, Republicans accuse the FAA of not revealing specific cuts until hours before they took effect, which compounded flight delays.
Air traffic controller furloughs are creating nearly 1,000 flight delays each day.
Congress is working on a legislative fix, but it is not clear when, or if, it will pass.
