ALABASTER, Ala. (WIAT) – Life hasn’t always been easy for Josh Carden. He was born with Cerebral Palsy and has spent his entire life in a wheelchari. But, it’s been even tougher last couple of years for Joshand his grandmother, Louise Burkett.
In late 2010, Josh’s grandfather was crossing the street and was hit and killed by a passing motorist. Josh witnessed it all. After Josh’s classmates at Thompson High learned of the tragedy, they sprang into action. And what started as a drive to get Josh a new tv for his room, turned into a journey to build him a new home.
Friday afternoon Josh celebrated that new home with those students and the organizers of The Josh Carden Project in the THS gym. Josh and his grandmother actually moved in last December. And this celebration had been planned before and had to be re-scheduled till today.
