OHATCHEE, Ala. (WIAT) – Two year’s later there are still storm survivors overwhelmed by the recovery process … today volunteers helped tackle daunting to-do lists throughout the region.
Ttim and Debbie Axelton started from scratch two years ago when their double wide was blown away by a tornado in Ohatchee.
They even lived in a tent on their property while trying to rebuild.
Fifty volunteers helped finish their home Friday.
They worked on the soffits, reinforced retaining walls, painted, and did landscaping.
Tthe Alabama Rural Coalition for the Homeless helped organize the event.
