JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) – The rising demand of healthcare needs in Alabama has led to a state-wide nursing shortage.
The Alabama Department of Labor is showing more than two-thousand registered nursing positions available.
Schools like Bevill State Community College in Walker County have stepped up recruiting efforts to meet this demand.
38 registered nurses are scheduled to graduate next week … with a current average of 125 each year.
The state labor department also reports truck drivers are also in great demand.
There were almost two-thousand openings in the heavy truck industry last month.
