BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Soup is a heart start to any good meal.
For one Birmingham-area non-profit organization, soup is a great way to raise money.
On Thursday, the Magic City Harvest held its 10th annual “Empty Bowls Project.”
Organizers say about 6,000 people showed up to support the cause on Thursday.
For only $15, attendees got the chance to taste different soups and breads while helping the food bank raise money.
Those who attended the event also had the chance to take home some souvenirs.
The event’s organizers passed out bowls that were hand-painted and glazed by local potters, students and artists.
