Trussville, AL (WIAT)-The road to the state finals in high school baseball continues.
This week several area teams are practicing for the semfinals with a state title still in sight.
Hewitt-Trussville is one of those teams and hopes to open another chapter in the history books.
The Huskies have never been this far in the playoffs and a trip to the finals would also be a first.
First year head coach Jeff Mauldin is excited to be part of this historic season but credits the kids for all the work they’ve put in.
“We just put them out there. The kids have done all this. We’ve kind of shown them what to do and they’ve just followed what we’ve asked them to do. They have played the games and they’ve made history here and for us is building a program. They’ve laid a great foundation and base for future players here to be part of Hewitt’s baseball program.”
Currently 32-10 on the season, No. 10 Hewitt-Trussville will host No. 3 Hoover at Phil English Field.
Game times are at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday.
If a third game is forced, it will be played Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
