BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – After a few dismal looking days, the sunshine on Wednesday is a welcome treat in the Birmingham area.
As it turns out, a sunny day not only brightens spirits, but it is also good for the heart.
Researchers in Scotland studied the effects of UV rays on the skin.
The research found sunlight may reduce blood pressure and cut the risk of having a heart attack and stroke.
However, doctors caution about too much sun exposure due to the risk of skin cancers.
Experts recommend wearing sunscreen to skin from sun damage.
