Barons Win 10th in a Row!

KNOXVILLE, TN (WIAT) – The Birmingham Barons won their 10th game in a row on Thursday, with a 9-7 victory over the Tennessee Smokies. The streak is Birmingham’s longest over the past 22 seasons. They matched the mark set in 2009 & 1992.

An RBI double by Miguel Gonzalez pushed the Barons ahead for good in the 9th. The win not only gave the Barons their 10th win in a row, but also put them 7.5 games ahead of the second-place Smokies in the Southern League’s North Division. With a 23-10 record, Birmingham also has the second best mark in all of Minor League Baseball.

The Barons will look for their 11th straight win as they take on the Smokies tomorrow at 6:15 pm. Birmingham returns to Regions Field on Sunday, May 12th to begin a five-game home-stand against the Montgomery Biscuits.
