HALEYVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) – The problem of missing dogs in the Marion County area seems to be growing.
The Taylor family who lives by the golf course in Haleyville just lost their two year old chihuahua “bear” two weeks ago.
Ronnie Taylor says the dog vanished into thin air.
They have went to police, and have been canvasing neighborhoods as well as searching the internet and Craigslist, but so far no sign of the dog.
The Taylor’s are among a growing number of Haleyville residents who are missing animals. We spoke with Steve and Jeannie Dodd last week. Their two bassets molly and molly are missing. Since then they’ve heard of a half-dozen more that have gone missing. Paula Crumpton from Double Springs is also missing her basset.
Just to name a few more, there’s Tina Bray’s tiny yorkie “angel.” She says the dog has a digestive problem who could die without her special diet and “homie” the black and tan dachshund whose owner Carmen Craig lives a little further down the road from Haleyville in Llamar County.
The Taylor’s say they were just about to get bear micro-chipped, that way there would be a record on file of who he belongs to, but they never got the chance.
