(WIAT) – About fifty animals are going on a little road trip to Washington DC. The Greater Birmingham Humane society’s “Transport Program” is sending off it’s fourth and largest transport this year. The animals are being transferred to areas with little or no homeless animal populations. The GBHS has partnered with the Washington Animal Rescue League to make all of this possible. Volunteers will drive the animals in a 33-foot RV called “Tara” which stands for transport, assist, rescue, adopt. The animals are hitting the road at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
