BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Four million adults in America use painkillers on a regular basis.
For men, though, overuse of the medications could come with an inconvenient side effect.
Researchers at Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research looked at more than 11,000 men with a history of back pain.
They found that those taking a high dose of painkillers such as hydrocodone and oxycodone on a regular basis have an increased risk of erectile dysfunction.
Research indicates that the men in the study experienced problems after taking painkillers for more than three months.
