BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Educators at Vestavia Hill Elementary School were honored on Friday after the school received some big news.
The school joins 28 other schools across the nation to receive the National School of Character award.
It’s all part of an initiative by the Character Education’s Partnership to highlight schools across the country who are committed to promoting educational and social development.
Principal Mark Richardson credits the community.
Friday’s big award news marks the second time an Alabama school has received the honor.
Shades Cahaba Elementary School was the first Alabama school to receive the award.
