Parrish & Hayden Bring Home State Softball Titles

MONTGOMERY, AL (WIAT) – Parrish (40-10) bounced back from a 7-3 loss in the championship round to Kinston (36-16) to win a deciding game 5-0 and win the 1A State championship.

Pitcher Grayson Culverson only allowed five hits and struck out five to pick up the win. She was selected as tournament MVP. She also had an RBI double in the game.

Named to the 1A All-Tourney Team were: Grayson Culverson, Parrish (MVP), MaKenzie Morgan, and Baleigh Robertson of Parrish; Madison Weeks, Anna Elmore and Lexi Harrison of Kinston; and Peyton Barthel of Decatur Heritage.

The Hayden softball team also took home a state title on Saturday, knocking off Scottsboro to win their first Class 5A State championship in softball.

Caitlyn Kirkland was named the tournament MVP for 5A.
