BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Cornelius Bennett played alongside Derrick Thomas for 2 years at the University of Alabama, and like many others can’t quite seem to understand why Thomas is yet to be elected into the College Football Hall of fame.
“You know, every thing is so political these days, I guess I’ve got a personal boycott going forward…You have to kind of play that game, a beat them at their own game kind of thing ” - Cornelius Bennett
Inducted into the CFB Hall of Fame back in 2005, the 5-time Pro Bowl linebacker sees no other possible explanation other than politics for his former teammate not being posthumously elected into the hall by the National Football Foundation voters.
“What he accomplished in college football you know his sack record from his senior year is still out there you know consensus All-American. What he did professionally is just unparalleled so there’s no doubt that he should be in the college football hall of fame”. - Cornelius Bennett
