Samford Baseball falls to Appalachian Stata in Socon Tourney

Greenville, S.C-  The Samford Bulldogs season comes to an end Thursday at the hands of Appalachian State 2-1 in the SOCON Tournament.

C.K Irby took the loss for Samford but his performance left little to be desired, Irby threw a complete game allowing only 5 hits Both runs were unearned .

 “Unfortunately, it’s kind of a fitting end to the season,” Samford head coach Casey Dunn said. “We pitched really well with C.K., but we swung the bats really poorly and we made the two big errors in the sixth. This was a tough day and a tough end to the season.”

For Samford Christian Durdaller drove in the Bulldogs lone run off Appalachian State’s Sam Agnew-Wieland (7-6) tossed 8.0 innings, giving up one run on five hits and striking out seven batters to earn the win for the Mountaineers.
