SAN ANTONIO, TX. (WIAT) – Three people have died in flood waters after heavy rains caused flooding in Texas over the weekend.
Nearly ten inches of rain fell over the course of six hours on Saturday morning in San Antonio.
Waters rose as high as roofs and tree tops.
Two women died after being trapped in their cars, and an 18-year-old boy’s body was found Sunday night.
Friends say he was swept away after trying to swim across the rushing waters.
Still, members of the community are committed to not letting the tragedy put a damper on their spirits.
“We’re gonna make it. We’re not going to let this stop us. We know this is Mother Nature,” Joseph Zachary, manager of a nearby Mitsubishi dealership said. “We can’t control it, but we’re just going to move on.”
Saturday’s downpour produced the second-highest rain total in San Antonio’s history.
