CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla.– For the second time in two weeks, violent thunderstorms and spin off tornadoes have cut a deadly path across Oklahoma. Nine people are dead including two children and seven adults.
The terrifying, multi-vortex tornado in Canadian County was just one of the twisters to wreak havoc Friday in the Oklahoma City area, leaving a painfully similar path of destruction. Now, the aftermath of heavy rains has caused widespread flooding in the metro area.
The impact of the tornadoes spread beyond Oklahoma. Storms swept across several midwest states, with tornadoes also touching down in Illinois and Missouri, tearing away rooves and scattering debris. Officials are assessing the damage, and commending the community’s response. Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has seen her state weather a beating in the last two weeks, but her outlook remains resolute.
