Update: Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police says the child and woman have both been located. No other information is available at this time. (12:09am)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Department of Public Safety has issued a missing child alert.5-year-old Jamari Knox was taken from DHR custody in Birmingham around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, by his non-custodial mother.

He was last seen wearing blue shorts and a t-shirt.

They may be driving in a 2000 red Chevrolet Impala.

Anyone with information should contact the Birmingham Police Department at (205) 328-931.
