BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – On Friday, the Alabama Department of Transportation announced planned lane closures in the Birmingham area.
Barring any setbacks because of inclement weather, ALDOT will be closing northbound and southbound inside and outside lanes of State Route 119 stretching from Montevallo to Alabaster.
The lane closures are scheduled to take place beginning Sunday, June 9 at 7 p.m. until Monday at 6 a.m.
The impacted area of SR 119 spans from the intersection of US 31 in Alabaster to the County Road 26 intersection in Alabaster.
The closures will then occur for the four following nights beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m.
Additionally, ALDOT plans to close southbound lanes on Interstate 459 to perform paving operations.
Lanes will be closed beginning on Sunday, June 9 at 10 p.m. until Monday, June 10 at 6 a.m.
The construction is planned for the outside and middle southbound lanes of I-459 from the Grants Mill Road interchange to just south of the US 280 interchange.
ALDOT plans to perform the lane closures and subsequent paving operations for the next four nights.
In both areas, ALDOT encourages motorists to use alternate routes and leave time for delays.
