HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT)- David Frost played a game of “King of the Hill” Sunday at Shoal Creek. During the final round of the Regions Tradition, the South African has to stave off several assailants to his spot atop the leaderboard in route to his first Champions Tour major victory. “I don’t think I really know what the feeling is like yet,” said Frost after his final round -4 that put him at 16-under for the weekend. “I think it’ll happen over the next week. Right now, you just get all this attention, [and] it feels like another tournament win.”
Frost has had the winning feeling a lot lately. The win at Shoal Creek marks his second victory in his last seven tournaments.
During the course of the day several golfers either tied or moved within striking distance of Frost, including Duffy Waldorf (-12), John Cook (-13), and Fred Couples (-15). Couples took Frost all the way to the final hole, when a putt to tie veered centimeters left at the last second. “He played very well,” said Couples. “I gave him pretty much everything I had. I would say I hit some pretty good shots today. I drove it pretty well but you know he was just better the whole day.”
After the final round Frost spoke one-on-one with CBS42′s Chris Womack. You can hear the interview by clicking on the video link above.
