Ensuring player safety during hot summer practices

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The smack of helmets hitting helmets, the creaking of blocking dummies being shoved down the field, whistles piercing the air; they’re all sounds of summer football practice.

These grueling workouts have evolved over the years.  Gone are the days of no water breaks and being pushed to the brink.

The AHSAA has taken considerable measures to ensure player safety, and coached all around Alabama have adopted their own precautions as well.
