CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) — Cullman Regional Medical Center is participating in a nationwide cancer study for the American Cancer Society.
One thousand employees will be volunteering to help with the 20 year study. This is the first time Cullman Regional has been a part of a national study.
Hospital Officials say studies like this are critical in detecting causes of cancer. A similar study like this helped determine that smoking caused lung cancer with the help of 22,000 volunteers.
The American Cancer Cociety needs a half million men and women between ages 30-65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer to enroll. People have until July 30th to do so.
