BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – There’s something truly special happening at Woodlawn High School these days.
Two years ago, the campus launched a culinary arts program with a fully functional kitchen.
Now, students have the chance to expand on the skills they learn at a Lawson State Community College campus located just across the street.
On Wednesday, the college broke ground on a new building to house a culinary school.
Students who enroll can earn an associate degree in just two years.
The $3.6 million expansion of the A. G. Gaston Building will begin in August.
Classes are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2014.
