Mock mass casualty event held in Anniston

ANNISTON, Ala. (WIAT) – When tragedy and disaster strike, first responders have to be ready to save lives.

On Friday, 140 members of different hospital and emergency agencies are in Anniston brushing up on what to do in the event of a mass casualty.

At the Center for Domestic Preparedness, students have been in training for a mock chemically contaminated subway, complete with mannequins and real-life actors.

Facilitators say the realism effects are crucial.

The training comes at just the right time for many who participated, too.

Once they return home, an airshow gets underway, where thousands of people will be in attendance.
