CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) – When you’re four years old, the biggest problem in life should be when your favorite cartoon is coming on.
But for a child in Cullman, knowing when his blood sugar is dropping is critical.
Xander Bonelli was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was four. he’s now nine.
But unlike other’s suffering with the disease, Xander is hyper-unaware. That means he doesn’t feel the warning signs that his blood sugar is dropping.
So, his mother and some friends are hosting a fundraiser Saturday to help Xander.
They need $10,000 to pay for a special dog that can smell the change in blood sugar and alert Xander and his mother when he needs insulin.
The fundraiser is from 12:00PM until 4PM at Sportsman’s Lake Park in Cullman.
There you can help support the families cause by purchasing items from their bake sale.
