BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — An elderly woman and her 41-year-old son awoke abruptly when two robbers broke through the door of their home in Roebuck.
Theresa Frasier was in her bedroom in the back of the house when she heard the noise and ran into the living room where her son was sleeping on the couch.
“My son was just pleading for his life,” Frasier says, “Telling them, ‘there ain’t nothing in here man.’”
One of the robbers grabbed Frasier’s cell phone and ripped the hard line from the wall, preventing Frasier and her son from calling for help.
The robbers forced Frasier’s son outside, but he was able to break loose and run. Frasier heard a gunshot.
“I was nervous,” she says, “I was trembling.”
Her son was shot in the foot.
Sgt. Johnny Williams with the Birmingham Police Department says the 41-year-old was trying to escape from the robbers.
“He ran from the residence, the suspect gave chase and shot him,” Sgt. Williams says, “And shortly after shooting him, they left.”
The Birmingham Police Department has not identified any suspects in this case yet.
“They need to get caught,” Frasier says. “Because they might do it to someone else.”
