BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – If traditional diets are not successful, new research indicates that sleeping more could be the answer.
A sleep clinic in Sweden monitored the effects of appetite, sleep patterns and exercise habits. The results indicated that even a single night of missed sleep slows one’s metabolism.
Someone who misses sleep will have less energy the next morning, their memory will be off and, as a result, most people consume more food thinking it will increase energy and help their memory.
However, the study shows that it won’t.
Those who miss sleep generally take in more than 500 additional calories each day, which ultimately leads to more pounds gained.
