(WIAT) – A key provision for President Obama’s healthcare law has received a one-year delay.

The provision requires companies with more than 50 employees to provide coverage or pay a $2,000 fine per worker.

That rule is now on hold until 2015.

The Obama administration made the change.

Some small business owners said to avoid the fines and comply with the law, they would have to lay off employees.

On Tuesday evening, Republicans who remain staunchly opposed to the law, which passed without a single GOP vote, called the announcement “vindication.”
