QINGDAO, CHINA (WIAT) – A nasty invasion happened on the shores of the beaches of Qingdao, China in recent days.
Eleven thousand square miles of beaches in China are covered in green, slimy algae.
This is the seventh straight year the algae has washed ashore in the city.
Crews are using bulldozers to scrape it away.
Oddly enough, many people are still swimming in the dirty water.
Unusually warm ocean temperatures are thought to be the biggest reason for the increase of slime in 2013, but industry and human sewage are a major factor.
