TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – It has been a violent last 24 hours in Tuscaloosa. Friday afternoon gunshots rang out between neighbors leaving one man dead. Then early Saturday morning shots rang on the West side of town.
When it was all over, four year old Tamera Harper lay injured in her family’s home. The fact that shots rang out in an apparent drive-by shooting doesnt’ the upset the neighbors we spoke. That a little girl was injured does. “That…That’s sad. She didn’t deserve that. She ain’t lived her life yet. She didn’t deserve that,” said one man who lives nearby.
Most neighbors declined an on camera interview. And the one man we did speak didn’t want his face shown or to give his name.
But he says, this type of violence happening in the ususally quiet neighborhood is not really a shock. “I mean, that’s life. Everybody’s got to go sometime. That could happen anywhere. I don’t know why it had to happen over here like that,” he says.
Tamera Harper is listed in critical condition at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham.
