MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (WIAT) – The National Enquirer has asked for a lawsuit filed by Natalee Holloway’s mother to be dropped.
On Monday, the federal courthouse in Birmingham held a status conference on the case.
Beth Holloway sued The Enquirer in 2012, claiming it published false stories about the search for her daughter.
Natalee Holloway, from Mountain Brook, Alabama, disappeared while on a graduation trip to Aruba in 2005.
The Enquirer says the Holloway case should be dropped because it is protected by the First Amendment.
