ORIGINAL: Shelby County Sheriff’s officials are looking for Shannon Loyd Crumpton, an escaped inmate, who robbed a convenience store Sunday morning at 7:40 am in the community of Shelby. He was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money. Crumpton was seen leaving the area in a tan-colored, four door sedan.
Calera police officers saw the car matching the description of the vehicle Crumpton was driving around 12:30 pm and attempted to stop the driver who began to lead the officers on a pursuit. The vehicle was able to elude law enforcement in the Summerhill location of Shelby County. Officials have not been able to find the vehicle and are not sure if Crumpton is on foot.
Shelby County investigators also believe that Crumpton is connected to a convenient store robbery that happened Saturday night in Jemison.
