TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – A Tuscaloosa man will spend 40 years in prison for a shooting at a high school graduation party.
Akeem Antwon Prewitt, 23, was not invited to a party held May 15, 2010.
Prewitt found out about the party, which was held at The Links of Tuscaloosa apartment complex, on Facebook.
He went to the party uninvited.
According to investigators, Prewitt was involved in a fight and party goers began shouting. A short time later, the lights were shut off and Prewitt opened fire using a 9 mm handgun, injuring nine people and killing a 17-year-old.
Prewitt plead guilty to the shooting.
He will receive credit for his time served.
