Auburn gets back to the field practicing in full pads

Auburn Tigers

Auburn,AL.(WIAT)-The Auburn Tigers practiced in shells for the first time during the 2013 preseason Sunday afternoon, undergoing a two-hour workout in heat and humidity at the Auburn Athletics Complex practice fields.

“We got a lot of reps in today, and that gave us a lot of good information,” said head coach Gus Malzahn after practice.

“As far as an evaluation of the first two days, you can only evaluate and see so much. When it starts getting into shoulder pads and helmets, you can really evaluate guys. I just tell them to keep competing every day.”

The Tigers return to the practice field Monday afternoon for another workout in shells. Auburn’s season opener is Saturday, August 31, at Jordan-Hare Stadium versus Washington State in a 6 p.m. Central kickoff.
