Suspicious letter sent to lab for further testing

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The suspicious letter found Monday at a Wells Fargo branch has been sent to a lab for testing.

An employee reported discovering a letter with threatening language on Monday, a discovery that prompted a shut down of the bank and a response from hazmat teams.

After testing was done on the letter, it was found to test positive for toxic chemicals.

Employees who handled the letter were decontaminated and sent to UAB Hospital for treatment.

According to the FBI, initial testing came back negative for biological agents.

Now, it will be examined even more at a lab in Alabama. The in-depth tests should yield results in at least three days.
