VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) – Wednesday’s heavy rains caused flash flooding in Vestavia Hills.
Standing water slowed traffic along Highway 31 during rush hour while employees at businesses like Vestavia Hills Automotive sprung into action to move vehicles away from creeping flood waters.
“I thought well, to be on the safe side we better hurry up and get our cars that are closer to it moved in, which we did,” said Terry McKinny.
But the threat of more ran in the comes days is fresh on his mind.
“The concern is we’ve had so much [rain] the water tables are so high, if it comes again, I don’t know where it’s going,” he adds.
Much of the days rain also collected in the parking lot of Vestavia Bowl.
Luckily for both businesses, the water receded about an hour later and hopefully the rain will take it easy on them in the days to come.
