Fox tests positive for rabies in Clanton

CLANTON, Ala. (WIAT) — Another case of rabies has been reported in Alabama.

A fox found in Clanton Wedensday morning recently tested positive for rabies.

It’s believed the fox contracted the virus from a raccoon in the area. The raccoon, though, has not been found.

In all, 24 cases of rabies have been reported in Alabama in 2013.

Signs of rabies include lack of energy, paralysis, seizures, aggression or self-mutilation.

Anyone who thinks an animal they encounter could have rabies should not touch it. Instead, call a local health department.
