TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — A middle school and an elementary school in Tuscaloosa are planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony as they move back into an area that was damaged in an April 2011 tornado.
Principal of University Place Elementary School Deron Cameron told the Tuscaloosa News Thursday that reopening University Place in the Forest Lake neighborhood “is a major step in the revitalization process for this area and the city of Tuscaloosa.”
The school’s students were relocated to Stillman Heights Elementary School while repairs were being made to their home campuses.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Friday.
