AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) — The Southeastern Conference (SEC) and ESPN released the 2013-14 conference basketball schedule, giving the details of each school’s 18-game slates.

For Auburn, this was the first look at any part of the Tiger’s schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The non-conference portion of Auburn’s schedule is still yet to be released.

Here is a breakdown of what head coach Tony Barbee’s team will be looking at in the SEC this season:

Auburn begins SEC play on January 9th against Ole Miss in Oxford on ESPN or ESPN2. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. CDT.

The Tigers will have two more games on the ESPN family of networks: the home opener against Missouri on Jan. 11, 2014, and a trip to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama on March 1, 2014. Auburn will have the majority of its games on the SEC Network, with a total of eight contests on the channel.

Four games will appear on Fox Sports Net, one will be on College Sports Southeast (CSS) and two more will be online only at ESPN3.

Auburn’s home-and-home teams for the upcoming season are Alabama, their “traditional rival” as defined by the SEC, Mississippi State, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee. Those teams finished 4th, 13th, 1st, 12th and 5th in the SEC last season, respectively.

Auburn’s other four home games are against Missouri, Georgia, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. They will play Ole Miss, Arkansas, LSU and Texas A&M only on the road in 2013-14.

Auburn’s schedule is relatively balanced, but the Tigers do start and end the conference season with difficult stretches. Tony Barbee’s team begins the SEC schedule with games at Ole Miss, Missouri, at Tennessee and home against Florida. Auburn’s final three games of the season are a trip to Tuscaloosa, home against Tennessee and ending against Texas A&M.
