Biological markers in blood could indicate suicide risk

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – According to a study conducted by researchers from Indiana University, biological markers in blood can be indicators of one’s risk to commit suicide.

Researchers found the markers were significantly higher in people who took their own lives, as well as in patients who have suicidal thoughts.

Doctors say the results could lead to a test psychiatrists can use.

However, changes over a person’s lifetime could skew the results of the test.

The full findings of the study can be viewed by clicking here.
