BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Birmingham’s Cornerstone School is hoping to send a message out to parents about their children: there’s always an option for children, even for children who feel that there’s no option.
Former U.S. Senator and current president of the Heritage Foundation, Jim DeMint, made a stop at the non-profit private school for a tour.
He says his mission is to showcase the great works of underprivileged students and to teach various ways to preserve healthcare for generations to come.
“We’re taking time out everywhere we go to visit schools, particularly schools and things that are innovative and helping kids that might not be getting the best education in just the traditional form,” DeMint said on Friday.
DeMint says he’s hopeful that Alabama’s new tax credits will allow more families to afford the best education for their children.
