Cullman Co. Sheriff creates Law enforcement scholarship

CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) – A scholarship for Wallace State students honors the memory of one sheriff’s mother … H says this year’s recipient is a true inspiration for anyone who has been abused.

Diana Moreno  never slows down. She also never gives up …

That’s one reason she earned the first ever law enforcement scholarship created by Cullman County Sheriff  Mike Rainey .

Rainey donated five thousand dollars in memory of his mother Shelby to help fund the law enforcement program.

Moreno works at this factory full time, is also a full time student at Wallace State and is married. but she is determined to eventually make to the FBI’s special victims unit working with abused children.

” I pray to god that some day I’ll be able to help children not go through what I went through.’

Moreno says if she can survive being abused at nine, left in foster care until 13, nothing can stop her now.

Sheriff Rainey’s mother was a secretary at Wallace State .

She died of brain cancer 18-year ago.
